Google lets Gemini analyze videos with fewer resources
Google just launched "agentic video understanding" for its Gemini AI models. The upgrade lets Gemini skip around video files—using audio, visuals, or transcripts—to analyze just the necessary bits. Google says this cuts token use by up to 88%, analysis costs by up to 66%, and bumps up accuracy by as much as 7%. It's available now for developers using Gemini's API and enterprise tools.

Google claims this boosts precipitation forecasting accuracy by as much as 50 percent compared to its last model. Widespread outages hit ChatGPT, Claude, Grok AI platforms
ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok all suffered major outages Thursday morning, affecting various services and users across all three AI platforms. The disruptions started between 7:37 a.m. and 11 a.m. Eastern and lasted from two to four hours depending on the platform. All three companies confirmed the incidents and later restored service. Some users were unable to log in, access conversations, or use key features during the outages.
